Another botanical name for watermelon is Citrullus vulgaris. The watermelon is endowed with extraordinary refreshing power. On a hot day, nothing as good as sitting in the shade of a tree and eating a very ripe watermelon. It is a fruit that must be very fresh and ripe food; otherwise it produces dangerous colic and dysentery. We should use but not abuse. Those who abuse this cucurbit, especially when it comes to children, are often victims of diarrhea. Watermelon is a fruit that hardly matches other solid or liquid foods.
