Some secrets, such as moisturizing the skin and passing the fragrance in places with no heat, can help in the fragrance's durability

Woody, sweet, citrus. Each person has a preference when choosing the perfume, but when it comes to the application, a common question is the ideal way to use it to make the fragrance last longer. To clarify everything, the exclusive perfumer of Natura, Verônica Kato, explains how the perfumes' durability works and gives application tips to make it last even longer.

The specialist of the Perfumery House of Brazil explains that before choosing the product it is good to know his olfactory note, since it has total connection with its durability. The composition of a perfume is divided into three parts: notes of exit, body and background. The output notes are first felt and have a durability between 15 and 30 minutes. Usually the aromas are more citrus and fruity. Then comes the body note, the predominant fragrance of the perfume and gives it his personality - the durability of the notes ranges from four to six hours. The bottom notes, lastly, are characterized by the smell felt after six hours of application. Sweet and amber perfumes are accented at this stage and consequently have a longer life.

Knowing the composition, some tricks can make a difference to slow the passage of these notes and make the fragrance stay longer on the skin. According to Veronica, the larger the area applied, the more pronounced the smell of the perfume will be. In addition, the concentration of the product influences the perfuming time, with the deo parfums being thicker and deo-colonies with less durability. "The ideal is to apply three consecutive times in the same place when it is a deo colony and twice when it is a deo parfum. Finally, sprinkle it upwards, entering under the mist formed", suggests the perfumer.

A curiosity is that oily skins and with good hydration have greater power of fixation of the perfume. As well as places with cold and humid climate, because the low temperatures diminish the evaporation of the fragrance. In places with dry climates, it is best to reapply the perfume more times a day. Another tip is to always use the perfume in places that have no heat, such as hair and clothing. "To increase the durability of the perfume it is important to always moisturize the skin with a body cream or moisturizer that has the same smell or a neutral product. They act as a film that helps retain the fragrance and make it take longer to evaporate ", comments Veronica.
